[TCML] Rectifying a Tesla coil (was Franklins bells)

Many years ago I tried placing an insulated sphere outside of my coil's
striking range. he sphere was also connected a small HV doorknob
capacitor with the other end of the cap connected to ground. When
running the coil, corona rectification(?) was sufficient to charge the
sphere and capacitor to a substantial (10's of kV) DC voltage. This
should be easily sufficient to operate Franklin Bells.
