[TCML] Voltage - Gap

I have run Maxwell Laboratories model 37093 high voltage pulse
capacitors for years with no ill effects. They are rated at 45 kV,
.02uF and I use them in a 15kV system. My Maxwells are not directly
under my primary however. I have run for over 30 minutes continuous
with no problems in a approx. 3KW system (line - 120V@ 26Amp). Love
these Maxwells for both rotary synch gaps and static spark gaps. I
always thought the 35kV Maxwells were to low a voltage rating for 15kV
systems even if they were higher pulse rate.
Also, as I understand it, these capacitors have a lifetime limit on the
number of total discharges. So far no problems after many years. I run
mine in a horizontal configuration although I am not sure if that
matter. An air bubble inside many of these units, swashing sound when
moved, does not seem to be a problem.
