My one experience with HV and animals.....

I had a racoon persistantly breaking into my house and eating dog food. Of
course, the dog didn't like that, would go crazy and chase the racoon out of
the house. I live in a hippie shack in the middle of the woods, and it is
impossible to keep animals out, unless I changed the fron door completely.

Anyway, one night I put 1/2 of a 15kV, 60mA NST to the dogs bowl (metal
bowl) with a switch next to my bed. When I heard the racoon messing around,
I made sure the dog was in bed (yes, she gets to sleep on my bed) and I hit
the switch. A loud screech, unlike anything I have heard out of a racoon,
and then it left the house, never to return.

It seems to me that a always lethal jolt is always going to leave a mess. I
use a fully automated vermin destruction device for mice etc, because my
house can never be made tight enough to keep 'em out. It's called a cat.
Works great for me, although they do occasionally leave a "present" for me.
