Chip; I'm probably demonstating my ignorance with this question but
what in the world does one need with an arc welder when constructing
a pole-pig-based TC?

Thanks, Daniel.

[ One needs some sort of current limiting mechanism. A pole pig will
instantly trip the breakers (almost regardless of the breaker size for a home
installation) if it doesn't have some means of keeping the current flow to a
reasonable value. Pole pigs are _NOT_ current limited like a neon
transformer is. -- Chip ]
