Ed (and All):

Been gone all week on business. To answer your question, I think the
Coleman
lantern chimney is strong enough for vacuum/low pressure spark gap; the
glass is approx. 0.070" (70 mil) thick and I've been working with
pressures
in the 85-100 torr range. However, I do generally wear goggles when
working
with vacuum apparatus, just in case an implosion occurs, but with
pressures
hardly qualifying as a "vacuum," I believe the dangers are minimal (with
properly constructed apparatus). Hope this helps.
