     I think that if one bothers to calculate the flux density
in the ferrite (in TC secondary) he will find that it (the
ferrite) is fully saturated if it is sufficiently immersed in the
coil field to have any effect.  Would expect it to get very
hot.  Have experienced the same thing here with ferrite-loaded
antenna coils for "LOWFER" antennas (160-190 kHz), even at a
few watts power level.
