Richard Quick Spark Gap

I've just tested my new spark gap for the first time.It works great!
It is basically a Richard Quick design. Whats different is the material
the gap is made from. I could not find any scrap pieces of pvc pipe 6"
in diameter. The only six inch pvc I could lay my hands on is in 20'
lengths and costs over a hundred dollars! I have some 1/2" acrylic
plastic that was left over from a previous project, and built a square
gap instead. To cut down on UV radiation I sanded the plastic inside and
out to make it cloudy and diffuse some of the light. It looks just like
a square version of a Richard Quick gap. I can leave the coil running
for some time now with no problem, although I still shut down after
about 30 seconds so the other components will not overheat. This spring
when pocket spending money becomes more plentiful there are a few
surplus wharehouses that I'm going to check out and find a some
transfomers with a LOT more power, and at a higher voltage.
