Hi all,
           A point worth noting about making self-oscillating flyback
power supplies: The transformers that come from TVs have gaps inserted
into the cores when they are assembled. As they stand, gapped 
transformers are entirely unsuitable for self-oscillating supplies 
that rely on core saturation for determining switching times. You 
can't saturate air and the transistors are liable to die trying. The 
gapping spacers should be removed from the cores before building this 
type of inverter.
