Cheap High Voltage Putty!

I have searched and high and low and I believe I have found a source
of very cheap High Voltage Putty! Check out:
"Frost King, Re-Usable Grey, Fingertip Rope Caulk".
I found it at the hardware store (Home Depot) in the window and door
caulk section. It is grey and comes in a role about 2" wide and 90
feet long. It says non-hardening so I assume it has some kind of oils
in it. We measured it with a very sensitive ohm meter and found no
conductivity at all. It is easy to work with, tacky enough to stick
to smooth surfaces, and can be removed! It costs about $4 a box.
I used 4 coats of heavy shellack on my neon transformers and then
covered the secondaries and primary and any visible connections with
this rope caulk. I really like this stuff because it is easy to
handle. It's pliable enough to conform to any shape, yet stiff
enough to hold it's shape and not smear on anything.
I have run my TC with no problems at all so far. Note: If your going
to use this rope caulk on your neons you must clean and shellack your
neons! Else, all that loose tar would stick to it (what a mess). One
box will be more than enough to cover a single neon transformer. And
for $4 why not? I can think of lots of uses for this stuff!
