You want between 900 and 1000 turns of wire.  On a small coil of this size,
28 guage wire is large enough.  You want the inductance as high as possible
without introducing too much resistance - for higher Q and better
performance.  You really need to balance all of the components of the system
so you know that it will all work together as designed - before starting to
build.  Download my spreadsheet (Teslaexl.zip) from the ftp site and play
with several parameters of secondary coil size and toroid to see what happens
to the primary and capacitor size needed.

You will probably need something around .005 mfd for this size coil.
