Ok, I have an Allanson 12kv 30ma neon sign transformer. Can one of you
smart/experienced guys please help me out? Give me any suggestions or
changes to be made to this data before I start production.

Is a 4" diameter secondary good to use with my transformer?

I used the full 4.5:1 ratio for length:diameter on the secondard to
achieve 837.2 (876.2791 feet) turns of #24 copper wire on my pvc pipe.
Anyone know how many pounds of copper this would be?

Teslac says: "THE TERMINAL CAPACITANCE SHOULD BE LARGE ENOUGH TO CAUSE
THE RESONATE FREQ. TO DROP TO APPROX. 331.8061 KHZ." <-- Is this
severely important?

Can Rain 'N' Shine (PVC sealer/glue) be used on the PVC pipe (Inside or
out)? Has anyone tried it? I doubt it is conductive, I will try some of
it on my transformer. If I don't use that stuff, what is the best (name
brand) sealer to use inside and out on my secondary?

Did I enter the proper R.M.S voltage?

Anyone know if there is any difference from Green coated copper wire,
and normal enamel coated brown/gold copper?

#Teslac data

THE NUMBER OF TURNS IS: 837.2093 CLOSEWOUND WITH .0215 INCH DIA. WIRE
SECONDARY WINDING LENGTH IS 18 INCHES
SECONDARY WINDING DIAMETER IS 4 INCHES
RESONATE FREQ. IS APPROX. 474.0087 KHZ.
THE REQUIRED WIRE LENGTH IS 876.2791 FEET
THE ASPECT RATIO (H/D) IS 4.5
REACTANCE IS 42151.09 OHMS AT 474.0087 KHZ.
THE MAXIMUM UNLOADED Q IS 103.2288 AT 474.0087 KHZ.
THE SECONDARY INDUCTANCE IS APPROX. 14.15999 MILLIHENRY

THE ESTIMATED LOADED Q WILL BE APPROX. 45.87945
DEPENDING ON THE COUPLING, AND COIL FORM LOSSES.
THE SIZE OF THE DISCHARGE TERMINAL, AND OTHER FACTORS.

THE TERMINAL CAPACITANCE SHOULD BE LARGE ENOUGH TO
CAUSE THE RESONATE FREQ. TO DROP TO APPROX. 331.8061 KHZ.

-TRANS./CAPAC. MATCHING

WHAT IS YOUR TRANSFORMER SECONDARY R.M.S. VOLTAGE
? 12000

WHAT TYPE TRANSFORMER? 1=NEON, 2=POLE & POTENTIAL
? 1
WHAT IS YOUR TRANSFORMER(S) MAXIMUM SECONDARY CURRENT IN M.A.
? 30

THE MAXIMUM PRIMARY CAPACITANCE YOU CAN USE IS 0.0047 U.F.D.

IT SHOULD HAVE A VOLTAGE RATING (SINEWAVE) OF AT LEAST 24000 VOLTS A.C.
TO INSURE RELIABILITY!

-MULTIPLE SERIES GAP DESIGN

WHAT IS YOUR TRANSFORMER R.M.S. SECONDARY VOLTAGE
? 12000
THIS SERIES GAP SYSTEM SHOULD BE BUILT WITH 10.0 GAPS
EACH GAP SHOULD BE SET AT APPROX. .025 INCH

AND COOLED BY AN AIR BLAST AT POWER LEVELS ABOVE 1 KILOWATT

IF A ROTARY GAP IS ALSO USED, DECREASE THE NUMBER OF
SERIES GAPS BY TWO TO INSURE RELIABLE FIRING, OR NARROW THE GAPS.
