from the discussions of triac controls and RFI, you may find the current
EDN 
magazine helpful - there is a good article on circuitry for transient 
protection of MOS circuitry - in this case it's talking about phone
lines, but 
I don't see why it doesn't apply to tesla work.

The article is titled "solve traisient-protection problems with devices
and 
topology, starting on page 145 of the april 10 issue of EDN.  They have
a web 
site, www.ednmag-dot-com - you may be able to get the article there.

If that doesn't work, I can scan it and mail it to someone who can put
it on 
their web site - there are some good graphs and schematics, so the text
only 
wouldn't be the best thing.  I'd prefer not to scan it because it takes
a 
bunch of time to get the OCR all correct, but I'll do it if there is a
need.
