That, of course, is the appeal.  I am surprised that no Tesla coils made 
it into the column.  Perhaps they aren't practical enough? Stong seemed 
to have many articles on building useful pieces of lab equipment, e.g. 
lasers, linear accelerators, supersonic wind tunnels, etc.
