I don't know if your question has been answered yet, but if you check
the archives from March of 1996, look for the posting, "Primary Coil
Topologies" (in two parts), by Mark S. Rzeszotarsky, Ph.D.  I have found
it useful in understanding some of the variables involved with the
primary.
