Hi Robert, what essentially happened was that my daughter wrote a
short paper on Dr. Tesla for a school project and the teacher gave
her an F because she said that Tesla NOT Marconi was the actual
inventor of radio. My daughter responded to the teacher (in class)
stating that she could prove her statement with U.S. Government
documents and asked what proof the teacher could offer. The teacher
responded with the statement that she was the teacher and didn't have
to prove anything. My daughter then called her a pampas ass and was
promptly suspended. I in response sent a letter to the Philadelphia
Board of Education enclosing the following;

On June 21, 1943 The United States Supreme Court made a
landmark decision that essentially settled the long dispute
between Marchese Guglielmo Marconi and Nikola Tesla. The
court's decision on Case No. 369, identified as "Marconi
Wireless Telegraph Company of America vs. United States,"
rendered invalid Marconi's basic patent No. 763,772 dated June
      28, 1904. Deciding that Tesla's patent No. 645,576 of March 20,
1900, and its subdivision patent for apparatus No. 649,621
dated May 15, 1900, had priority.

To find the actual Supreme Court Case on the Internet WWW,

      http://www.fedworld.gov/supcourt/fsearch.htm

and search on the words "marconi" and "wireless"

      Select this one:
      Case Name: MARCONI WIRELESS CO. V. U.S., 320 U.S. 1 NO. 369.
      ARGUED APRIL 9, 12, 1943. DECIDED JUNE 21, 1943. - 99 CT.CLS.
      1, AFFIRMED IN PART.

In 1893 Tesla made the first "wireless" transmission before the
National Electric Light Association in St. Louis, and it is
this essential understanding that exists today in all modern
      radios.

Marchese Guglielmo Marconi was the first to send a message
across the ocean, and as a result of his business interests
later, he is partly responsible for 'developing' radio -- but
      he did not invent it.

Approximately on week later my daughter recived a public apology in
class and was given an A+ for her original paper. Upon talking to
the teacher at a PTA meeting she responded that she originally
thought my daughter was trying to be a "smart ass" and that when
she received a copy of the letter I sent the Board of Education along
with a letter from the Boards attornies advising her to apologize,
she only then realized my daughter was right. I advised her to
investigate before pouncing on a student in the future, she agreed.

			       Sincerely
