Subject: Tesla Coil Videotape #19

All,

Newer list members may not have seen my 9/9/97 ad for my Tesla coil
videotape #19. This tape covers the construction and testing of
the 12kV, 30ma NST powered, 42" spark TC, break rate comparisons,
vacuum tube magnifiers, small demo coil, quench times explored, etc.

Complete index below:

1. Hamfest buy: special ignition transformer
2. Vacuum tube magnifier; variable tuned secondary
3. Quench times explored using a transistor instead of SG, scope
     displays
4. 4uS quench times using a spark gap Tesla coil
5. Coupling is tightened, quenching observed
6. Low frequency system; comparison of quenching
7. Offset electrodes discussed (rotary gap) (some of this is later
     invalidated)
8. Quench times compared on low frequency coil
9. New system quenches at 1st notch at k = .22
10. Tighter coupling is tested
11. New staccato control for tube coils is tested
12. 100 megawatt hydrogen thyratron is shown
13. Compressed air quench assist is tested
14. Rejuvenation of vacuum tube filaments is discussed
15. New TC platform is constructed
16. New TC is shown and described
17. 12kV, 30ma neon sign transformer gives 42" sparks using sync
       gap
18. 15kV, 60ma NST is used which requires a rotary sync gap
modification, gives 65" sparks with first notch quenching
20. Higher break rates are tested using modified non-sync rotary
21. Variac tested as ballast
22. 10 kilowatt multi-range wattmeter is installed
23. Potential transformer efficiency compared with neon transformer
24. Improved joining method for dryer duct toroids
25. Photos from 1996 TCBOR Teslathon
26. Series rotary quenches similarly to regular rotary
27. Ballast is shown and discussed
28. Higher break rate gives minimal improvement, and lower efficiency
29. Hamfest buys; caps, misc
30. Garbagefests described
31. Potential transformer versus neon transformer, efficiency compared
32. 7.5kV, 120ma neon transformer is tested on TC
33. Neon transformers are obtained from distributer
34. Small stylish, easy to build, demo-type TC is built and described
35. Gaithersburg hamfest buys
