1. To tune the primary and secondary to the same frequency.
2. Most coils ARE simply double-tuned transformers, with 
highly unknown Q (and hence kQ, the real deterimant of 
coupling in a double-tuned transformer) because of the 
non-linearity of the impedance of the discharge.
