 Since I don't know the size of coil you're planning to put this on, I
can't
say what sort of output you'd have, but I can say that I've seen one of 
my coils punch through 1/4" window glass.

 The strike rail (if positioned properly) should afford you far more 
protection than trying to insulate against several hundred KV.
