The 801-A should be electrically the same as the 801. If the side terminal is on the side of the base, that's a locating stud and has no electrical connection. Viewed from the bottom and clockwise from the left fat pin, that's #1. Pin 2 is the plate, pin 3 is the grid, 1 and 4 is the thoriated-tungsten filament. ZEKE
