Re: flash tubes

A long time ago I recommended trying High Pressure Sodium bulbs. They come
in continous power levels 35 past 500 watts. They are available at your
hardware store. EG&G web site has derating info that may be applicable for
our pulsed-power application, in their web site thyratron tube tutorial.

I was told, IIRC (check the list archive), the electrodes would probably
burn up, and the quench time would be very long. But they would have a high
breakdown voltage (>10KV?), low resistance (good Q) and high power
capability. If you want to try it out, I can make some suggestions.
