Dr. R,

I didn't try that.  Usually when I installed the 60ma source,
I also used a larger toroid, and went from the .0077uF cap to a .0147uF
cap.  But now that I'm using the .0147uF with the 30ma source, I could
just switch the source as you say.  I'm sure the cap would charge to a 
higher voltage with the stronger source because it would be closer to
matched and more current would be available anyway, so yes, I would
expect a considerably longer spark output.
