	I tried what you have thought of ...  and it worked fairly well until
the disc started to carbonize between the holes. The sound was rather
interesting and unique from a standard disc with mounted electrodes. It
had a more so whirring / whistle than the rapid fire machinegun effect.
If you find some hi quality scorch PROOF material i think it would work
at lower power ranges   but when you are pumping 8KW thru a gap set its
bound to get really hot  :)
