Re: identifying plastics



    Dr. Resonance,
                            PS is considered part of the "styrene" family
along with 
acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) ,styrene-acrylonitrile(SAN) ,and
styrene-maleic anhydride(SMA).  I do not think(but I won't swear to it)
that these are 
derived from the olefin "side". I am thinking they are from the aromatic
"side".
In the chemical,the use of the "polyolefin" is a long way up the "evolutionary"
tree for plastics and PS could very well be a distance  relation. So in my
defense,i will have to pull out the old "common usage in the plastic industry"
defense for my savation.........
