primary wire type

       hello all,
it seems that many coilers use copper tubing for the
primary
do to its cost, skin effects,availablity,ect...... however,i have some
.525"dia (awg4/0?) copper cable (looks like 16 strands or so of #10)
bare which i ghave wound in to a sprial with 1" spacing(not ctc) between
each "layer" approx id 12" od 48" #turns 12-3/4
now after following the thread on the unsuitablity of braided straping
for grounding i am spooked....... will this apply to stranded cable in
the primary? am i doomed? this stuff was a bear to handle and felt like
it must weigh a 100 lbs!!!!!!
(BTW sec is 8.625od x 42" of winding 50"oal)

doomed in oregon
