It is considered toxic if breathed in closed areas for any length of time.
Outdoor should not be a problem.  We do experiments in science museums with
large coils and as long as the demos are kept short and the coil usually
runs only 5-6 operations, there is not a harmful buildup.  If indoors no
problem --- just keep the run time short  30-45 sec or less -- and perhaps
open a neaby window if possible.
