Personally if I were going to use toroids for chokes, I would definitely try
to find something larger. It all depends on how much current is going to
flow. From the gauge of your wire it looks like you are aiming for something
up to 8A, Almost certain they will saturate and overheat. 2" toroids are
available and would be a better bet, they are made by several companies, the
best known being Amidon. If you have access to a copy of the ARRL handbook
there is a complete data table in there, at least in my 12 year old copy
there is.
