Bi-directional leader formation?

Speaking of lightning research, here's a great photo sequence 
of what might be a bi-directional leader initiation from an
isolated body in a high electric field.  Sent to me by a friend
at Boeing.  
The clip is posted on the site for the Lightning Research Group
