Subject: diode used against RF?

hello all...
the most destructive force to an NST are RF
currents...
many people try chokes, capacitors and other componets
to break them down...
i was wondering if a diode could be connected in
series with the NST. this would rectify but wouldn't
really affect the charging of the cap
there wouldn't be any frequencies from the primary
circuit getting into the secondary of the NST...
has anyone tried using a diode???
any promising results??
thanks in advance.
