RE: help -I want to buy pulse caps for MMC - anyone selling new ones

John: Although I am NOT a sales rep for Dave McKinnon, I have gotten good
service, price and product from him so I pass the info along. The caps are
white plastic case rectangular .047-at-1600VAC. He sells them for about $1.30
in lots of 50. Ships by Priority Mail. Only one problem which I have
mentioned to him. The leads are awfully short when poked through a perf
board. There is enough of the lead to wrap the bleeder resistor around. But
the jumper wires to the next cap/resistor combo should not be too heavy or
else you'll have a tough time crimping. I bought very small needle nose
pliers to assist and I finished 5 boards of 20 caps each. It wasn't fun.

Hope I've been of some help.

Help,

I seem to recall messages in the archive of someone purchasing pulse caps in
bulk and reselling them at cost around $1.50 each and they were also
including the bleed resistors. Does anyone have any of these 'self healing'
pulse caps, in the .033-.055uf range around 1600 vdc?

I wanted to pick up around 75 of the following :
http://www.wima-dot-com/navig/fkp1.htm

Here the description;
Polypropylene capacitors for pulse applications
with metal foil electrodes, internally series-
connected for very high current ratings

For extremely high pulse ratings because of metal foil electrodes and metal
sprayed end-surface contacts. Self-healing construction. Extremely low
dissipation factor (tan delta) and ESR. High insulation resistance. Low
dielectric absorption. Preferred applications: Damping and commutation
capacitors in switch mode power supplies, static frequency changes in drive
and power electronics, deflection systems in monitors and TV-sets. Close
tolerances. Available taped and reeled up to and including case size 15 x
26 x 31.5/PCM 27.5 mm.

The price I got was $4 ea with a $500 minimum. I figured they might be
$2.50 on the high end. Heh!

Thanks everyone,
John M.
