Hi Dave...


2 options ...    the inside fit   and the outside fit...

take a small piece of tubing ( 2" )that will fit the inside of the
primary and solder that small piece to one section of the tubing
allowing half of the small piece to extend beyond the end of the
primary...   once that has cooled down, fit the other section of the
primary onto the small piece and heat up the area and let the solder get
sucked into the joint, once cooled, sand or file off the excess solder,
you now have a small thin solder joint that is well attached.


outside fit..  take a 2" piece of tubing that fits the outside diameter
of the primary ....   and do the same soldering techniques as above   
but this method is less "pretty" and harder to clean up...

tubing ( 12" lengths of hard copper or brass)  can be found at most
hobby shops if you want to have that perfect fit  just bring a small
sample of your primary with you to check the fit...
