Re: FREE NST's

Hi Trent ....

I dont need the NST but ........

modifications you need are ...

primary coil .... 5 - 15 degrees 11 turns inside 9" to start

secondary is ok

to take full advantage of the 15KV/120mA setup you need .250uF of caps

toroid is small go for a 5" X 24" ( odXod) better yet stack them (
put the 5X24 on top of the 4X13)

1. with the present system you will get serious secondary flashover
coupling is wayyyy too tight

2. make a disc out of wood that will fit snugly inside the secondary
glue it into place get a nylon bolt and blind nut and attach the sec to
the base plate

3. maybe but id go with the flatter primary

4. you dont tap the secondary you tap the primary ( if you increase
the cap size and toroid somewhere around turn 11 )

5. the wire at the bottom of the secondary is soldered to a metal (
brass copper) plate glued ( epoxy 2 part)to the base of the secondary
the RF ground is attached to that plate i fold a piece of brass shim
stock ( about 1" hi by 8 " long folded to 4 " ) and stick the frayed end
of the RF ground wire inside the fold

6. you use a paint brush ... buy furniture grade hi gloss polyU if
you have spray painting equipment spray it on several coats one day
between coats

7. 2 clothes pins and thick single strand wire ( #4) ;)

8. glue a wood disc inside the top of the form and have a dowel rod
extending from the top attach the toroid to the dowel rod and hook the
top wire of the secondary to the toriod

9. time patience money

10. hi volt lead 1 to side 1 of cap Hi volt lead 2 to side 2 of cap ..
hi volt lead 1 to inside turn of primary.. hi volt lead 2 to spark
gap in... spark gap out to wire with a clip on it .... clip to outer
turns of secondary ...

not going to sign this one ;)
