Re: Another RSG Question



Years ago, I used to see in various catalogues, spindle adaptors for 1/2
inch or 5/8 inch  motor shafts. These would slide over the motor shaft
itself, tighten to the shaft with one or two set screws, and the other end
had a bolt and nut for single hole mounting of the desired appliance. One
could purchase one or two of them and adapt a standard single or dual shaft
motor  of various speeds to facilitate the use of rotary wire brushes,
buffing wheels, grinding wheels, ect. for use in the home or commercial
shop. If you had an old electric moter laying around, it was easily given to
that type of use for less money than a commercially built unit.
As I remember at the time, there were readily available in the Sears or
Wards catalogues, or in larger hardware stores......... I would be very
surprised if they were not still available.......
