"yes" :-))  It's only a 12V car coil after all...  Depending on your
metering and how it interprets RMS things...  Seven volts is close enough
;-))  The capacitor is sort of a cheap way to step 120 VAC to ~~~12 VDC...
Plus or minus a few hundred percent ;-))  It still works...
