The pics don't show up! (netscape nor explorer) - shows "100mb free
webspace" advertisements instead.

It of course might be a dielectric waveguide... They use these at
microwave freqs too, although, I must say that I've seen them more in
millimeterwave applications.

Thermal switches of some sort - they have a small bimetal plate there,
when it heats up, it flips over and opens the switch.
