Chris,
I would not trust any glue to hold the screws to the surface of a spinning 
disc. Sounds like you have very little surface area of the 8-32 screws in 
contact
with the wood. Is there any reason why you can't drill holes in the wood for 
the screws?
No glue. I would at least use a protective cover.
