fire, high voltage, and pressurized flammable liquids isn't a combination I
particularly like.. However, you might try the following experiments..

1) Put a candle on top of the TC. The fuel (melted wax) isn't particularly
volatile, nor is it in a closed container where the pressure can build
causing an explosion.  The flame is a fairly good conductor...

2) Rig up an apparatus using compressed air from an external source to
shoot a stream of particles (liquid or solid).  If you use a valve in the
(plastic) air line, you can shut it of when things get too far out of
control.  The particle source could be a conventional aspirator (like a
paint sprayer...)  ALuminum powder or flakes is quite impressive with a
TC.... (it is a good "death ray" looking thing.. if a bit messy).  i think
salt water might also work fairly well.

The key here is no closed container within which pressure could build.
