hi godfrey,
it seems you're probably right, the big one has a ratio of 40-1. it is
strange that the taps are so "close" together in that they are only a
max of 1v apart, high num - lower num.. the foam coating of the windings
will make a nice isolation to core i think, and it just may be the plate
trans. i need for those "big" old tubes i have?
the smaller cores are actually the same oval shape and with two that
meet in between the windings, it seems like it may be a filament
transformer of sorts?
the ratio's for it are 16, 11, 8, and 6.75 - 1, which works real well
for some of the other tubes i have.
i am trying to strike a deal for some bulk purchase of these, though
they are "VERY" heavy, i could remove the cores and ship to some, should
make for some nice projects.
the cores are split at the centerline of the "U" so when i get a few
more i would like to try some spacers between the halves and some home
winding to see how the use in ballast may turn out.
i'm happier about these finds then the delta\wye.
i will keep all posted,
marc m.
