Marc, All

There are several VT's bigger then one mentioned, I know that EIMAC's
8972 "Super Power"(C) Triode is a monster (~20kV, 200A [not a misprint]),
1,500 kW plate disappation) for ELF, extreme high power short wave work,
with typical power outputs of greater then 2,000kW. But the tube is a little
pricey (about $250K... 5 years ago... :^C ).

The best deal on tubes for us average "toob geeks" is either 811A / 572B or
833 variants. If you have some money to burn ~$500 to $1000... a
3CX2500H3 is an outstanding deal at ~$650 rebuilt from ECONCO.
Tube is capable of 6kV input-at- 3A, 4kW peak dissipation, and 10kW
delivered to tank. If you keep the peak excursions to that of a level shifted
2.3-2.5kV PT (6-7kV pk), some serious sparks could be had, for a tube coil.
The tube is extremely robust, it has to be for induction heating service, and
they are very plentiful according to ECONCO rep. It must be air cooled
properly however, with significant air flow, and is not socketed, the grid ring
is mounted on an insulated standoff, and flying fils leads go to fils
transformer.
Anode air cooling fin assembly is mounted in a sealed plenum, and high voltage
passes into plenum to connect to plate of tube. Bigger tube means bigger
headaches in regards to supporting infrastructure.

Full specs are listed including constant current curves at Svetlana web site...

Also check ECONCO technical info, highly recommended info on fils adjustment
circuitry, life extending procedures, general circuit application info,
etc, etc. for
industrial, high power tubes.
