Herwig,

The tank impedance seems to be very important in a VTTC,
just small changes can have a big effect as you've seen.
I don't know what the optimal arrangement is however.
Since I've built my coils various ways, and they never get
super-efficient, and they always give similar power input
to spark length ratios, I assume I'm somewhere near the optimal
point.
