We have had problems with acrylic sheet picking up a charge or
acting as a capacitor dielectric. As a capacitor, one "plate" will be
the highly charged air or electrostatic environment, the dielectric is
the acrylic and the other "plate" will be a human hand. Ouch.

You're probably using power levels and distances that will pose
no problems at all. I just want to call you attention to this potential
issue.

Tesla coils NEED a good rap. The reason we don't see too many in
public anymore is because of a perception that they are dangerous,
kill computers, stop pacemakers, etc., etc... Our efforts are slowly
educating show producers that Tesla coils DO have a place on
stage (once again).
