Re: Ignition Coil

Hi Justin,

I've noticed the same thing. I've used up to 60uF in
series with a 120V dimmer and an ignition coil and
gotten very good results. The output spark doesn't get
longer, but it sure gets thicker and brighter. It
makes a flaming arc like an NST and could probably do
as well as an OBIT powering a small Tesla coil or a
Jacob's ladder. The coil and dimmer switch don't seem
to mind the extra current. The coil gets barely warm
and the dimmer stays room temperature. I'm tempted to
test to destruction. I suspect the dimmer will be the
first thing to fail as I add more series capacitance.
