Flyback questions

Hi All,

Been playing with flybacks. Lots of fun! The driver is easy to build, and it
works well. But I do have a few questions:

I finally got a xfrmr without a diode. It does indeed produce AC. However, one
end of the secondary is hot, and the other only has a few volts. Shouldn't I be
reading 1/2 of the voltage on either leg, like with an NST? And, I seem to get
a few more volts if I ground one end. Is this normal?

And this is a basic question I shouldn't have to ask, but if I am getting AC,
my meter should read 1/2 of the true voltage or less on the DC settings, no?
And the meter should read nothing on the AC scale if DC is applied, correct?

Thanks as always,
