PFC Capacitors

PFC capacitors are used to reduce the wallplug ampreage for low power factor
neon sign transformers (NST). This means you can run more NST with smaller
fuses or circuit breakers. The following equations will increase the power
factor of a typical LPF NST to a HPF NST.

   For 15000 V - 60 ma NST

   For 120 volt - 60 Hz
   C = .08 x V x I
   C = .08 x 15000 x .06 = 72 uf

   For 240 volt - 60 Hz
   C = .02 x V x I
   C = .02 x 15000 x .06 = 18 uf
