aol cd plate cap?

Original poster: "Laurence Davis by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <meknar-at-hotmail-dot-com>

while pacing thinking about WHEN my mmc caps will show up i started
to think about cap design.

on my table was 3 or 4 aol cds. made of polycarbonate and aluminum.
caps in series raises voltage rating.

can't remember my calculations right now, but then i came
up with dielectric strength of 350v/mil for polycarbonate.
came up with 11 cds for 20kv or so. (cant remember the calcs.)

measured the cap at 0.7 nf or so.

buy a 100pack for 20bux. get the cheapies.

.7nf x 10 (round up) gets me 7nf.

maybe even an air cap ?

let me look up rf dissapation for pc...

rf diss -at- 1mhz .010
rf dielectric const -at- 1mhz 2.93

i'll try it. i'll take pix of the fire. ;)
burning lexan. ewww. probably bad.
