If you think about your advice to Frank RE the primary tap, you will realize
that you need to cut the winding into two windings.  If you just tap it and
connect the outer windings together, they will be phased wrong and will blow
a breaker.

Frank,

You mentioned primary windings (plural).  Perhaps your transformer has two
primary windings and can run on either 120 or 240 volts?  If only 240, you
could consider bringing out a 240 volt outlet from your break box, similar
to a stove or dryer outlet.
