The oven i use for depoting has a ceramic broiler unit on the side that
is like half the size of the oven compartment. The ceramic burner is
above, I think a real nice and relatively cheap depoting oven could be
built by using either one of those ceramic cabin heaters fired with
propane, or an oven burner from an electric oven. this put into a big
microwave case (most coilers have a big empty case left over) and maybe
wrap with some fiberglass insulation.
The advantage of having the heater above is that i place the nst on a
grate over a pan to catch the tar, It takes a while in mine with nothing
apparently happening and then "bloop" all the tar runs out, a little
smoke, a bunch of smell, definitely not an inside job.
With a little creativity any coiler can build a dedicated depoting oven
that can give good service for a lifetime of coiling.
