Copper oxide rectifiers work for low voltage sources ( o.2 to 6 v).
International Rectifier makes high voltage rectifiers. For the rest of us we
use 1N4007 in series with 10 meg resistors across them. You can also put
your series string in a plastic tube and cast it with fiber glass resin or
heat glue. The diode is 1000v, 1 amp and cost 28 c. Use about 30 in each
string. Some sales can cost 10 c each.
Robert H P.S. Copper oxide rectifiers are easy to make, burn a
penny. Connect a wire to the head of that one and to the head of another
clean one and clamp them together (tails) with tape.
