I bought my motor already modified from Brian Basura about a year ago. I
contacted him some time later and asked him if he had determined the
"correct" value of capacitance using the John Freau phase shifter circuit.
At the time he told me that he had indeed been experimenting with this and
had arrived tentatively at a value of about 250 uF. This seemed to be
somewhat proportional to the value needed for the 1/20th HP motor, so the
250 uF value seemed to pass the sanity check. Since I have not completed the
phase shifter circuit yet, I cannot comment on whether 250 uF is indeed the
right value. I will let you know. If you are getting good phase shift
performance with 60 uF that is good info which I will take into account.
What kind of phase shift adjustment range are you getting with 60 uF?
