RE: Carriage bolt spark gap equation

The bolt heads do have writing on the periphery. The breakout points are at
the apex of the bolt heads, however, as evidenced by the scaring of the bolt
head surfaces. Other than the raise lettering, the bolt heads are smooth.

The bolts do appear to be coated with zinc.

The problem I was encountering with my TC appears to have been caused by an
NST with one secondary phase dead. A different NST brought the TC back to
life.

Did the bolt heads have any markings/raised letters on them, or were they
perfectly smooth?

And, were they cad or zinc plated?

Good job on the measuring..
