Many things were done at the turn of the last century by experimenters and
others, including Mr. Tesla, that are now known to be stupidly dangerous.
Breathing ozone (which Tesla did), testing the effects of X-rays on your own
skin  (which Tesla did), Fluoroscoping your own feet for hours, (which Tesla
did), whiffing nitrous oxide, drinking radium water, taking "Galvanic
Baths",and using ether for date rape were not uncommon Victorian era pastimes
which sane people would not think of doing now. The fact that Tesla did it,
does not mean it is safe or sane.
